Shuffle 01

In a brief attempt to hold your interest in the blog whilst we’re knee deep in (exciting) New Years Eve finalisations/booking the best bands in the world, here’s one of those self indulgent ‘first ten tracks on shuffle’ whatsits.

Think of it as a 100% honest, integrity destroying chart of sorts.

Here we go:

01 Mutators - I’m Not Down (Kill Me)

One of the loudest albums of 2009. The kind of thing you listen to once, recommend to everyone, then put to one side. So ‘now’ that they’ve broken up already. Recommended. http://www.myspace.com/mutators

02 East 17 - Stay Another Day (Best Of…)

Um… I blame Glastonbury for this one. http://www.myspace.com/east17

03 Biffy Clyro - Cloud Of Stink (Only Revolutions)

A song about tartan guffs. http://www.myspace.com/biffyclyro

04 Bipolar Bear - Old Guts (Harlem Pripyat)

We discovered bipolar bear a couple months ago and they’ve fast become the offices favourite new band. You very much need to check out Harlem Pripyat. http://www.myspace.com/bipolarbear

05 Editors - Munich (The Back Room)

Yeah? Don’t care, I love them. http://www.myspace.com/editorsmusic

06 The Horrors - Three Decades (Primary Colours)

Was one of our favourite albums of 2009 but I think we’ve over played it a little now. http://www.myspace.com/thehorrors

07 Michael Jackson - Workin’ Day And Night (Off The Wall)

According to MySpace you can send the guy a text. What would you text to MJ? Answers on a post card. http://www.myspace.com/michaeljackson

08 Boys Noize - Transmission (Power)

Nicely compliments Vitalics’ stonking new effort. http://www.myspace.com/boysnoize

09 Take That - Love Ain’t Here Anymore

I’m going to blame the missus and pretend I have no interest in this one. http://www.myspace.com/takethattv

10 Japandroids - The Boys Are Leaving Town (Post Nothing)

Best track of the year. Fucking BRILLIANT. http://www.myspace.com/japandroids

So there you have it.

New Years Eve!

“93 Feet East Take On The Infamous Superfilth!!! in the New Years Party To End Them All!”

93’s New Year’s Knock Out rounds off another awesome 12 months at 93 Feet East with what may be our best NYE line up yet. 2009 saw Wild Beasts, Telepathe, Vivian Girls, Wavves, Seal Club Clubbing Club, The Twilight Sad, Danananakroyd, O’ Children, We Fell To Earth, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and many more superb acts taking their first steps towards world domination here in our very own venue.

So what better way to celebrate such a colossal year than with a New Years Eve party to end them all. Free Friday favourites Superfilth!!! will be taking on 93’s in house bookers in a frenzied music driven head to head. Expect dirty stomping electro, huge indie anthems, mental mash ups, a bit of rock and roll and, well, pretty much anything and everything that’ll keep your feet from standing still.

In the blue corner (Main Hall), we have a DJ set from indie legends DOVES who with their history steeped in the early 90’s house scene as Sub Sub are sure to deliver an immense set of eclectic music. We also have masters of the blog scene SLUTTY FRINGE, mash up mayhem from BLACK MASA, POSH KIDS and SEVEN SHADES OF SH*T spinning their favourite tracks, with another very special act yet to be confirmed.

In the pink corner (Pink Bar) DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? will be taking the prime time spot. DIOYY have had a busy year having helped produce the lead tracks from the latest Prodigy album. Olympian heavyweights GRECO ROMAN SOUNDSYSTEM are sure to pack a sturdy punch, and you can expect some of the dirtiest dance tracks around supplied courtesy of BOOGALOO CREW, SOLID GOLD, ARROW!!! and OLI DAB vs ROBIN.

We haven’t even mentioned our new outdoor cocktail bar and rumours of a stunning new sound system in the bar.

All that with early bird tickets on sale for only £18, £20 following that. Tickets are available now.

What more could you ask for? This will be huge.

Buy your tickets!

Apples Rickshaw Interview

Apples Rickshaw is the self appointed king of Shoreditch and we’ve booked him to host what might end up being the world’s greatest quiz. We caught up with him for a chat…

Hi Apples. You seem the kind of guy who leads an interesting enough life. What have you been up to since you got out of bed this morning?

Well first of all I don’t sleep in a bed because they are pretty lame. I sleep on a vintage 1930’s chaise longue. And my day doesn’t start until at least 8pm. Only losers live in the day time.

On the off chance you did get up a little early, what would be a perfect day in London for you?

Mostly going to showrooms to pick up new pieces that designers have made for me. I also like having arts and crafts ket parties with my fags and hags or just trying out new styles at home with a couple of hot floozeys to assist me. Applesauce all over their faces is the future.

Wow. So, big year for celebrity deaths. Who do you miss more – Michael Jackson or Stephen Gately?

They were both pretty legendary. But it would have been much cooler if they’d died together in some sort of love tryst. Celebrity deaths are boring though. I’m all about the life right now.

It’s nice to hear a positive message in such desperate times. So who are you rooting for on X-Factor?

X factor is shit. I only watch 1960s black and white art house flicks right now. Next month it’s going to be about German neu-new-rave cinema and re-runs of Rosie and Jim. That tug boat is fresh and the puppet look is so 2011.

So you’re doing a spanking new quiz at 93 Feet East. What inspired you to give this a go?

I knew that my face should be associated with more in the east end. Mostly because I AM the future of fashion, style, interest and OMFG the internet too. If people don’t learn from me then they’ll spend eternity in a state of mediocre-faggyness. My uber quiz will make you cooler, guaranteed.

Awesome. So what exactly should we expect?

Music, dancing, acting, hand modelling, drawing, sex, drugs and lycra-leggings.

Apples

Wow… well there you go. Apples will be hosting his first quiz at 93 Feet East on the 12th November, a Thursday.

93 Picks: Cold In Berlin

Cold In Berlin used to be called Death Cigarettes. They make loud, exciting shout-driven guitar music. It’s the sort of thing that you might enjoy if you’re a fan of Kasms. We like them so much they’re headlining 93 on the 12th November along with The Black Tricks, Moses and the Black Cats and The October. Check out their MySpace here and come down on the night.

Power Up! Pics

We had a riot of a time last Thursday. Sparkle Motion were fantastic, the Mega Drive proved a hit and sherbert UFO’s were gobbled all night. There’s a video of the girls coming up soon, but in the mean time have some photographic memories for you:

Enjoy!
