Power Up! Pics

We had a riot of a time last Thursday. Sparkle Motion were fantastic, the Mega Drive proved a hit and sherbert UFO’s were gobbled all night. There’s a video of the girls coming up soon, but in the mean time have some photographic memories for you:

Enjoy!

Power Up!

Power Up! is a new free Pink Bar event created as a celebration of all things 90’s. With retro sweets, dancing girls and mega drive games on the projector - all to a soundtrack of the best the 90’s had to offer, from hardcore to britpop - it’s sure to be an awesome night. We caught up with the Power Up! DJ’s to see what they miss most about their favourite decade, starting with 25ThC

KISS 100FM

Around 1991/92 I started listening to Kiss 100FM and in particular DJ’s Colin Faver and Colin Dale. They would play the freshest and craziest electronic music in the early hours. This was before the internet and living in a small seaside town meant I couldn’t buy the white label vinyl. So I would have to tape the shows on cassette and bring them into school each week to play to my mates.  This was where I first heard early tracks by Moby, The Prodigy, Suburban Base and loads of white labels.

DAFT PUNK

Later in the decade around 1995 I remember hearing ‘Da Funk’ by Daft Punk for the very first time and that tune totally blew me away. It was so different, so fresh and you could tell that you would still be listening to it in years to come. The album Homework was just simply amazing and I was also lucky enough to see them live in 1997 at The Astoria. To this day that was one of the best gigs of my life.

WHAM BARS

Oh and the 90’s also had Wham bars which i still love. The original bars not the apple ones they have these days!!

The first Power Up! is on Thursday 22nd October, and is absolutely FREE! Check back for more 90s nostalgia from DeeJay Specialneeds and Long Distance Dan.
